TLC x Black Seed VC: Meet the women leading innovation within their industries

In September the community came together to explore new ventures, build meaningful relationships and share invaluable advice for future generations. Jennifer Dominic

Jennifer Dominic is a seasoned professional with nine years experience in the life sciences sector. Passionate about diversity and STEM, she founded Wenite, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering future generations in STEM careers

Jennifer leads Wenite alongside her role as a Senior Brand and Customer Manager at a leading biopharmaceutical company where she spearheads strategic marketing initiatives. Jennifer's past roles include Chief of Staff for the UK and Ireland and Clinical Research Associate in Global Clinical Trials. Jennifer also co-leads the League of Employees of African Descent EBRG globally and has received multiple awards, including a Rising Star accolade from her University.

Elinor Olisa

Elinor and her co-founder have navigated the art world, blending offline and online platforms and fostering a community of creatives and collectors for over 20 years. Based in Somerset House, they manage DegreeArt powered by Artellite, the UK’s first online art gallery dedicated to nurturing emerging talent, Contemporary Collective which supports artists as they develop their careers and the internationally recognised art prize The Signature Art Prize. The company has successfully secured funding through 3 rounds of investment since 2009 and has a committed group of shareholders.

Elinor appeared on BBC’s Dragons' Den, turning down offers, and was featured on Grand Designs for her 'Healthy House'. Beyond her work she leads an arts ecommerce R&D project, is a SEND Primary School Governor and a supporter of the Silver Stories charity

Ama Owusu - Afriyie

Ama is the founder of Nova Tuition, an education technology platform dedicated to helping students achieve their personal and academic potential. NovaTuition has been recognised by UCL eVC, Kickstart Global and Sky for pioneering a holistic approach to education for school pupils

More recently, Ama founded and hosts the Nova&Boba🧋 podcast, which empowers the next generation of entrepreneurial tech talent. On the podcast, startup founders spill the tea on the founder’s journey by sharing their real stories and practical insights to help aspiring entrepreneurs on their startup journey

Ama holds a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Nottingham and MSc in Technology Entrepreneurship from UCL. Beyond her professional endeavours, Ama was a member of the National Youth Theatre and loves singing Gospel music
